Forward The Bass, Dub From Randy's, 1972-1975
(Blood And Fire)
Another excellent release from the Blood And Fire label, “Forward The Bass, Dub From
Randy’s, 1972-1975” focuses on the work of producer Clive Chin and features 15 tracks
and just over 40 minutes of crucial dubs.
The liner notes state that Randy’s was only in operation from 1968-1977, “but during that
period it became a key recording location in the development of reggae.”
Producers such as Bunny Lee, Niney, Lee Perry, Rupie Edwards and Glen Brown worked
their magic at the studio located at 16/17 North Parade and most of the Wailers definitive work with
Perry, as well as hits by such artists as Delroy Wilson, John Holt, Slim Smith, Dennis
Brown and even Burning Spear’s classic “Marcus Garvey” album were recorded
there.
Randy’s Studio 17 is an important piece in the history of Reggae music, and thanks to
Blood And Fire for once again releasing these rare and crucial tracks.
