"Eyes To See" is Taj Weekes' 8th studio release, and first one featuring a companion vocalist (Zion Albert). The results are outstanding as these 11 tracks and just under 42 minutes of roots rock reggae is as good as it gets.

"I & I Experience" is the opening tune and is solid roots complete with Taj's trademark conscious lyrics. What hits, though, before the song takes off, is the intro. It's drum and bass with a searing rock guitar for almost a minute. It is unlike anything you've ever heard to kick off a reggae album. Taj's voice is as good as ever, coupled with beautiful female harmonies and exemplary musicianship. Then all of a sudden Zion comes in and the interplay between the two distinct vocalists is absolute perfection.

It continues this way throughout the disc, with each taking turns on the mic. It's truly hard to put into words how terrific this release is. The lyrics are superb, with the theme of LOVE permeating throughout, and each song is well-crafted, thoughtful, and catchy. The intros are all dynamic, as well. From "Wider Range," "Cornerstone," and "Great Divide," through "Bang, Bang, Bang," "No One," and "All Things Shall Pass" (they've even included a tremendous ska track, entitled "Choked"), "Eyes To See" will knock you out with its modern roots sound. It was co-produced by Taj, along with his long-time musical partner and multi-instrumentalist Shelton Garner, and Sidney Mills of Steel Pulse fame who lends some fantastic work on the keyboards, as well. This superb disc closes down with the outstanding and meaningful nyabinghi track, "Gentrification" followed by its raw version and then the beautiful, uplifting, acoustic sounds of "Wildfire" (which Taj sings solo).

"Eyes To See" is one of the strongest records you'll ever hear. If you love old school reggae vibes, this one is for you. As Taj's motto declares, "the vibe is high and the message is mighty." True words right there. Do yourself a favor and check this one out. It's guaranteed to blow you away.
